1987 Mercedes Benz 560SL Agate Green

This 1987 Mercedes Benz 560SL was sold new at Sport Imports in Southampton, New York and spent time in New York, Florida and Virginia before moving to California after our recent acquisition. The car is finished in a very rare color combination of Agate Green, over Palomino leather interior with a Dark Blue soft top and is powered by it’s original 5.5L V8 paired with an excellent shifting 4-speed automatic transmission.  Only 48k documented miles, since sold new.  Features include a removable hardtop,  freshly powder coated original 15″ Gullideckel wheels, burl wood accents, automatic climate control, and a Sony stereo. Work in July 2019 included climate control repair, brake system repair, new fuel pumps.  Now showing 48k original miles, this R107 is offered with service records, factory books and manuals, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Virgina title.

Paint and Body

The body is finished in very rare and highly attractive Agate Green (815), as is the removable factory hardtop. The body is solid with no rust.  US-market double-round headlights and wider bumpers have been retained. The body retains most of the original paint which just received a full detail.  The original chrome trim still exhibits very nice shine and all light lenses are in very good original condition.  The original Sekurit windshield is clear with no visible cracks or chips.  The Carfax report is free of accidents or other damage. Interior

The cabin is trimmed in Palomino leather (274) with color-keyed carpets and burl wood accents on the console and dash. Fully functional power windows, passenger side mirror, horn, automatic climate control, and cruise control are equipped along with a Sony head unit and rear Polk momo speakers. The air conditioning system has been converted to R134a and received new Freon in July 2019.  The factory airbag steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation, which includes a 170-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer. The six-digit odometer shows just over 48k miles.

Wheels and Brakes

Factory 15” Gullideckel alloy wheels are freshly powder coated and are mounted with Michelin Defender tires showing February 2018 date codes. A brake system repair was carried out in July 2019 by Auto Haus in Virginia, and included rebuilding brake calipers, new pads and new rotors.

Mechanicals

The original 5.5L M117 V8 features Bosch fuel injection and was rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque when new.  The engine starts easily and idles smoothly.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through a nicely shifting four-speed automatic transmission. The following service was completed between 2016 and 2019:

September 2019 – wheels professionally powder coated
July 2019 – climate control repair, brake system repair, new fuel pumps
August 2018 – four wheel alignment, new Michelin tires installed
July 2017 – new freon, oil & filter using Mobil 1, belts and hoses inspected
October 2016 – new EHA valve installed

Documentation and Accessories

The August 2019 Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in New York, Florida and Virginia. Additional documentation includes the original window sticker, original owner’s manual, original maintenance book, service and warranty policy booklet, warranty plate, top operation book and service record file.  Accessories include original toolkit, jack and spare wheel.
