41K Mile 1980 Porsche 911SC Targa

This 1980 Porsche 911SC Targa was first sold on by Martin Johnson Porsche Audi in Oakland, California and has always resided in California.  The first owner started his classic car collection with this Targa and subsequently owned many other classic cars and motorcycles.  Ownership was then passed to the first owner’s daughter in 2014.  It now shows just under 41k miles. It is finished in Copper Brown Metallic over beige leather upholstery and is powered by it’s original 3.0-liter flat-six engine paired with it’s original five-speed manual type 915 transaxle.  Additional equipment includes a removable roof panel, a Blaupunkt Washington stereo, air conditioning, and 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels. Service performed in May 2024 included installing rebuilt front brake calipers, new brake hoses, brake fluid flush, new spark plugs, and mounting new tires.

The original seats and door panel inserts are trimmed in full beige leather with dark brown dashboard and side and rear trim accents.  The original tan carpet is in excellent condition.  Amenities include power windows, air conditioning, and Blaupunkt Washington stereo. The padded steering wheel is wrapped in leather and frames a centrally mounted tachometer, original 85-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows just under 41k miles.

The original forged 16″ Fuchs wheels have black painted pockets and anodized lips with no curb rash. They are mounted with new Continental ExtremeContact Sport2 tires measuring 205/55 up front and 225/50 out back. Work performed in April 2024 included  installation of rebuild front brake calipers, new brake hoses, a brake fluid flush and installation of new tires.  The SC received fixed two-piston brake calipers paired with ventilated rotors.

The 3.0-liter flat-six was factory rated at 172 horsepower and 189 lb-ft of torque, and a test drive video is provided below. Service in June 2004 included new spark plugs and fuel filter.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through the original 915 five-speed manual transaxle which is shifting great. Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery below, including photos of the original engine and original transmission numbers.

Included are the original owner’s manual, warranty service book with service stamps from 1981 to 1993, service records from 2001 to 2024, a clean CarFax and a clean California title.  Accessories include the pristine original toolkit, jack and spare wheel.
