Marble Grey 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe

This 1986 Porsche 911 is one of 2,619 US-market Carrera coupes produced for the model year and is finished in special order Marble Grey over a blue partial leather interior. Power is provided by the original 3.2L flat-six paired with the original Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle, and equipment includes 16″ Maxlite Fuchs-syle wheels, integrated front fog lights, European-specification headlights, rare driver side only power-adjustable sport seat, a sunroof, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB stereo. The car was purchased by it’s first owner as tourist delivery at the Porsche factory and was subsequently shipped to San Diego, California.  It remained in southern California through 2013.  Ownership documentation shows ownership in Washington, Texas, New Jersey and Pennsylvania from 2013 to 2023.  A recent major service was completed in November 2023 and included, engine leakdown test, new brake pads and sensors, fluids change, new engine oil line, new accelerator bushings and more. This 911 Carrera shows 264k miles and is offered with detailed service records, owner’s manuals, Certificate of Authenticity, CarFax report, and a clean Pennsylvania title.

Paint and Body

The body is still wearing it’s original special order Marble Grey (L673) color with paint meter measurements included in the photo gallery below. Equipment includes a front spoiler, integrated front fog lights, European-specification H4 headlights, power-adjustable driver side sport seat, a sunroof, and US-market impact bumpers. The CarFax indicates one minor damage report and one very minor damage report in 2009.

Interior

The interior features a power-adjustable driver side sport seat and special order partial blue leather (LW), door panels and carpeting. Amenities include air conditioning, power windows and locks, and a Blaupunkt stereo.  The air-conditioning system was serviced in July 2023 and blows cold. A Momo Prototipo steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,300-rpm redline, an analog clock, and a selection of auxiliary gauges. Approximately 264k miles are shown on the six-digit odometer.

Wheels and Brakes

16″ Maxlite wheels with black centers and anodized lips are wrapped in 2019 date coded Dunlop Direzza V-rated tires measuring 205/55 in front and 225/50 in the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs, with new brake pads and sensors recently replaced along with a brake fluid flush. An alignment was also carried out in October 2021.

Mechanicals

The original air-cooled 3.2L flat-six (64G04859) was factory-rated at 207 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque when new.  The engine was removed for a top end rebuild in 1999 by Dennis Sherman Foreign Car Service of La Mesa, California.  Recent engine leakdown test results are shown in the photo gallery.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through the original 915 five speed manual transmission.  Recent service included new fuses, engine oil and filter change and gearbox oil change was completed and the original service warranty book accompany the vehicle.  Additional photos of the underside are provided in the photo gallery

Documentation and Accessories

Original exhaust, heat exchangers, tool kit, jack are present, along with the factory owners and warranty manuals.

The owner’s manual notes a delivery inspection date of April 23, 1986 and warranty start date of May 20, 1986.  The car was a tourist delivery to the first owner in Stuttgart, Germany and received it’s first engine oil change on August 15, 1986 in San Diego.

The COA lists the special order Marble Grey paint, driver side sport seat, shortened shift lever, rear window wiper and more.

The Carfax report lists history in California through 2013 and history in Washington, Texas, New Jersey and Pennsylvania from 2013 to 2023.
