1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe 6-Speed

This 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S coupe is one of a reported 60 Vesuvio Edition units and was produced for the Canadian market before being exported to the US in late 2024. The car is finished in Vesuvio Metallic over black leather and is powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 18″ hollow-spoke “Technology” wheels, front sport seats, a power-operated sunroof, motor sound, and Litronic headlights. A full engine rebuild was completed in 2011 and transmission rebuild was completed in 2014. This 993 C2S Vesuvio Edition shows 114k kilometers (~71k miles) and is now offered with it’s original manuals, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title listing the model year as 1998.

Paint and Body

The 993 C2S featured wider bodywork, a split rear grille, and revised bumper covers and side skirts in comparison with the contemporary Carrera. This example left the factory finished in rare Vesuvio Metallic.  Additional exterior details include Steel Gray mirror caps, door handles, and rear grilles as well as headlight washers, fog lights, power-adjustable mirrors, a power-operated sunroof, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets.  With a full body wrap installed, the paint is in excellent condition.

Interior

The power height-adjustable front sport seats are upholstered in black leather complemented by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpeting. Steel Gray trim accents the shifter, handbrake handle, and instrument dial rings, and amenities include air conditioning, a Hi-Fi sound system, an onboard computer, and an aftermarket Alpine stereo.  The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, a 300-km/h speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 114k kilometers (~71k miles).

Wheels and Brakes

The 18″ hollow-spoke “Technology” wheels and are mounted Michelin Pilot Sport tires (with 2021 date codes) measuring 225/40 up front and 285/30 out back. Koni struts were installed in 2014.  Braking is handled by Porsche-branded calipers over cross-drilled rotors at all four corners.  Brake calipers were rebuilt and new rotors and pads were installed in 2021.  The steering rack was rebuilt, new tie rods and new rear subframe bushings were installed in 2021.  A wheel alignment was completed in 2021.

Mechanicals

The air-cooled 3.6L M64 flat-six features a VarioRam intake system and was factory rated at 282 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. The engine received a well documented examination and rebuild by a very experienced ex Porsche factory technician in 2021 and an oil service was recently completed.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle.  The transmission received new first and second gear syncros in 2014.

Documentation and Accessories

The original maintenance book documents original delivery to Canada along with factory colors and optional equipment. The sale includes original owner’s manual, warranty and maintenance books, two keys, a trunk-mounted air compressor, full tool kit, and detailed service records.

This Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists ownership history in Vancouver, British Columbia.  The car was imported into California in 2024 and recently passed California emissions testing.
